Petition Signing

I want to shout a big “THANK YOU” to everyone who signed the petition on behalf of Monroe Primary Center on Sunday.  We got quite a few signatures.  For those who missed it, the school board plans on totally renovating Monroe Primary Center (as well as a few other projects in the school corporation).  Marquette Primary Center being declared a historical landmark is a potential roadblock that will cause Monroe to lose the funding it needs.  The petition simply asks the city council to allow the school system to pursue its intended plan to tear down Marquette and build a brand new building at the same sight as well as allocate $16 million for complete renovations for Monroe Primary Center (including air conditioning :-) ).

If you missed the opportunity, the petitions will be available next Sunday as well.  In order to sign you must:  1) be a registered voter; or 2) be a home owner and live within the South Bend school district.
