You are probably tired of me going on about the South Bend Community Schools.  But doggone-it they give me stuff to talk about on just about a daily basis.

The Superintendent and School Board have decided that they WILL NOT allow Hillary Clinton to make a campaign stop at Washington High School.  Read the story hereRepeat:  Hillary Clinton is not allowed at Washington High School.

Are these people nuts?!?  The reasons – not wanting to appear partisan and some policy that requires equal time for the other candidates!  What are these guys smoking?!  This isn’t about being partisan.  This isn’t about supporting Hillary Clinton.  (Although she is the former First Lady.  She is the Senator from New York.  And she is one of two Democratic candidates for the Presidency of the United States and she wants to make a stop at one of our High Schools.  And they said “no.”)

This is what it is about:  the best interest of the students!  What a huge civic lesson opportunity!  What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these students to see a Presidential candidate (and the former First Lady and current Senator).  This could bring to life the importance of issues in this campaign and can get students engaged in ways that are significant.  And of course there isn’t equal airtime for the other candidates.  These three candidates don’t appear in every high school in America.  And when one of them (and I don’t care if it was John McCain, Barack Obama, or Hillary Clinton) is willing to come to your High School – you say “YES!” because of the amazing opportunity for THE STUDENTS!!  ISN’T IT SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT THEM ANYHOW!!!?

ONCE AGAIN WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE STUDENTS IS BEING OVERLOOKED BY THE RIDICULOUS THINKING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD AND ADMINISTRATION.

Congratulations to Mishawaka schools and their school board for making a good decision

O.K.  I’ll quit shouting and calm back down now.

Discovery Class

Posted: March 27, 2008 in Living Stones Church

Had another Discovery Class tonight at the Living Stones Church.  Can I say that Living Stones Church has the coolest people showing up?!  I love hearing people’s stories.

First – Compliment:  I’m loving the new Little Caesar’s pizza that opened up on Ireland Rd. (in the Broadmore Plaza).  It is awesome.  Cheap pizza – $5 – and fast!!!

Second – Complaint:  This weather is ridiculous! (although the lightning and thunder in the midst of the snow is kind of a cool effect)

Stuck Follow-Up

Because I had someone ask, and now I’m afraid I may have left open uncertainty – when I say I need to get unstuck that does not mean:

1.  Leaving Living Stones Church (which isn’t stuck :-) )

or

2.  Leaving South Bend

or

(I added this one :-) )

3.  Leaving Kelly!!!

Sorry if I left any concern…

I’m sitting in my office dazed at just imagining this scene.

I would encourage you to click on part one, read, and then continue on with the story…

Stuck

Posted: March 27, 2008 in Confession

I’m feeling stuck in life (confession time).  I’ve felt it for several weeks, if not months now.

I am a routine guy by nature.  I like predictability and having a set and constant schedule.  I wouldn’t mind setting my clock to the habitual routines of my day (that sounds more impressive on print than it is in the reality of my world…or not :-) )

I’m in favor of routine UNTIL your routine is no longer moving your forward.  That is how I feel.  I’m not moving forward.  I’m not progressing.

  • In my spiritual life
  • In my work ethic/productivity
  • In my marriage
  • In regards to health (diet/exercise)
  • In regards to relationships, etc.

I’m stuck.  I wouldn’t say I’m crumbling, just stuck.  Now I need, by the grace of God, to get unstuck in these areas.  I’m in process of thinking through and making some life changes to the routine.  I’m taking some time this week to come up with some possible moves that might move me out of my “stuckness.” (is that a word?)

You probably weren’t going to win the whole thing, but it wasn’t your time to go.
