Here’s your chance to tell me I’m a buffoon…I can take it…in fact, in some twisted way, I rather like it!!

Sam, I am so glad you have a blog. I could be having a bad day and I just click on your blog and my day gets better. Entries like this one just have to make a person laugh out loud(well, at least smile!)
While I think you may be a little goofy, you are far from being a buffoon.

buf·foon (b-fn)
n.
1. A clown; a jester: a court buffoon.
2. A person given to clowning and joking.
3. A ludicrous or bumbling person; a fool.
You decide.

Property Tax change
I am sickened by the resolution. Lake County and St. Joseph County will not see the 1% cap. They will see a little higher tax rate of 1%. What the heck!
Oh! and the sales tax will go up to 7%. I agree with this fully because it is a users tax. The more people spend the more tax generated. I am going to Michigan to buy my large taxed items – fridges, washers, dryers, etc. Although if I drive to Niles to save $30-$50 what am I spending in gas? Big dilemma!
It didn’t take long for the state to make the 7% sales change. April 1 is the proposed change. Tax us immediately and let the counties give property tax rebates at the end of the year.

I hate to tell you this, Randy, but there’s a little section on your Indiana Form IT-40 (state income tax return) asking you if you made any out-of-state purchases during the year. This is where you get to ‘fess up about all those big ticket items you purchased in another state and pay the difference on your Indiana return. Now you are faced with a moral dilemma: Do I reflexively check the “no” box and claim out-of-state purchase amnesia? Or do I admit to what I’ve done and render to Caesar (or, in this case, Mitch)?
In the words of the inimitable P. J. O’Rourke: “Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.”

I’m not buying into any of your “blog record” comments or pleas for posts on your blog anymore.
Not after being burnt by that false promise for posting the 1,000th comment on February 26.
In case you can’t tell, I’m still a little hurt by that one…
I hereby retract this post.

David, don’t despair. Sam honored your posting of the 1,000th comment by making a $25 donation in your name to the Dennis Kucinich for President Campaign fund. Money well-spent!

David -
You mean the car from the Lexus dealership never arrived?!!! That’s strange. I’ll have to make some calls. I thought it was a little weird that I hadn’t heard anything from you since the date it was supposed to be delivered. I just figured you were WAY BUSY and didn’t have time to call and say thanks for THE LEXUS. I’ll call the dealership and see what is going on.

Sam – the car you requested is at Toys R Us. The Lexus dealership doesn’t carry Hotwheels.
I thought your wife’s post provided some keen insight.
Keep posting bro – you do make it fun!
