The Blockbuster on the South Side of South Bend is closing. Bummer for the South Side. I wonder if they just couldn’t keep up with the competition from Redbox, online streaming via the internet, and other online options. Does anyone still go to the actual store? (I know we did from time to time). So…another business on the South Side…GONE!

Honestly, I was JUST thinking about them this morning — remembering the days of going to movie stores, looking at various VHS tape boxes, talking with friends about what movies to rent… and wondering if anyone ever does that now, for just the reasons you give. Hmmm…

I know the nursing home uses netflix for their movies. It is much easier for them instead of having someone go get them and take them back.

I noticed the Blockbuster in Granger is closing too. I think they are owned by the same family.

Went to one a few weeks back when some friends wanted to get a movie. I wandered the aisles aimlessly as always. I always seemed to forget what I wanted to see when I walked in there.
We hit up the library and some Redbox rentals far more often than the Buster of Blocks. I say expand New China.

I noticed the Mckinley store is also shuttering down, so it may be all of them locally! Netflix has the better business model, apparently!
