Movie Review: Clash of the Titans

Posted: April 8, 2010 in Movies

Kelly and I took the boys last Friday to see Clash of the Titans in 3D.

Hated it.

First, if you do decide to see this movie – DON’T SEE IT IN 3D!!!  It was blurry, cloudy, and miserable to watch.  It made the effects look lame, action scenes were undefined.  It was really bad.  Only after seeing the movie did a read a review in the paper (which also said the movie stunk) that mentioned it was not filmed for 3D and only later was converted into a 3D formatting…which was terrible!

Second, the script was lousy.  Everyone in my family was bored in major sections of the movie.  The boys were disappointed in the hype about the Kraken being released and the pathetic let down of its demise.

Third, wasn’t overly impressed with the acting either.

I wish the Kraken would have won, wiped out everybody, and ended this movie before it even began.

The 1983 version with Harry Hamlin was SO much better.

This is an invitation to EVERYBODY to show up to the Living Stones Church on Tuesday evening, April 13th @ 6:30 p.m. for a brilliant conversation about our city, community, and neighborhood!  Two of our city council members will be present:  David Varner(R) of the 5th district (South side) and Henry Davis Jr.(D) of the 2nd district (who by the way had a “viewpoint” in the Tribune this morning).  There will be an open time for question and answers.  We are looking forward to a dialogue between two council members and community members about:

Councilman David Varner (R)

  • The greatest issues facing our community.
  • What we have to be excited about in regards to our future.
  • The issue of abandoned properties.
  • How city government works (a “101 on South Bend City Government” so to speak).
  • Is South Bend in a state of decline?  Is public perception a reflection of reality?
  • How does South Bend attract business and cease to lose large employers to surrounding towns.
  • Poverty.
  • Southgate entry way into the city.
  • College Football Hall of Fame.
  • The condition of Miami Hills Apartments.
  • The pizza in town (this is a joke :-) )

    Councilman Henry Davis Jr. (D)

  • Crime levels.
  • Schools.
  • What is the best way for the community to communicate with its council members?
  • Are there “grassroots” or “neighborhood associations” in the 5th district?
  • What are the consequences of being the only Republican on the City Council?
  • What would you recommend to the South Bend School Board?
  • What would you recommend to the executive branch of city government?
  • How can they envision a church (or other institution/organization) make a positive impact on the community.
  • …and much more

This is open to the public.  ANYONE can come.  Living Stones Church is hosting, but it isn’t a “churchy” event.

Its intent is to have a healthy dialogue about issues facing our community and establishing not only ongoing relationship and partnership but also ideas for seeing positive transformation in our neighborhood and community.

If you would like to submit a question for the evening, you can do so at this link here.

What that means is, if you are angry about your water bill, send a letter to the mayor, this isn’t the forum to get your utility bill irritations off your chest. :-)
