Charlie Weis…gone.

Jimmy Clausen…gone.

Golden Tate…gone.

I figured it would happen.  Who wants to start all over again with a new coaching staff and the shifting of dynamics? Plus, there is slightly better pay in the NFL than at Notre Dame (yet strangely you do get Boling lasik eye surgery and Basney Hondas in exchange for playing at Notre Dame…shhhh…don’t tell the NCAA)

By all accounts, Jimmy Clausen is slated to be the third quarterback pick in the NFL draft and Golden Tate is slated to be the second wide receiver pick in the NFL draft.  They should make the NFL with relative ease (however…let us not forget about the panicked Brady Quinn and even Clausen’s own brothers [Tennessee quarterbacks]).  I was hoping they would stay at Notre Dame one more year to help the new head coach Brian Kelly (no…this isn’t an official announcement…just my prediction…and how will he explain that to his present Cincinnati player?) have a genius inaugural season!!

No shock here.

Everyone knew it was coming.

Charlie Weis has been fired.  I like him.  I like his family.  He seems to have done great and charitable things off the field.  I was hoping he would succeed on it.  Sad for him and his family.

Jimmy Clausen was punched in the face at 2:00 a.m. at C.J.’s Pub in downtown South Bend Sunday morning.  Apparently it was an altercation that involved someone mistreating his girlfriend.  The result…two black eyes for Jimmy Clausen.  In Charlie Weis’s Tuesday press conference he refused to answer questions about the altercation and in practice Jimmy was wearing a tinted visor on his helmet to keep anyone from seeing his two black eyes.  Come on Jimmy…could it have really looked worse than what we witnessed on Saturday?

My first thought – why would you be in downtown South Bend eating a cheeseburger at 2:00 a.m. if you are the starting quarterback at Notre Dame and you just lost a game to Connecticut?!?!  Then again, have you ever had a C.J. Pub cheeseburger?!?!  If you were looking for consolation food...it is a most excellent choice!!  They are my second favorite cheeseburgers.

And what was he supposed to do?!  He was defending his girlfriend’s honor!

Yesterday my blog lit up looking for information on Jimmy Clausen’s girlfriend!  Apparently my blog post in regards to his hair (from last year) seems to have captured the attention of “Jimmy Clausen girlfriend seekers.”  If he still had this hair style, then I can understand why someone punched him.

OR – if he showed up to CJ’s Pub like this:

I can understand why someone punched him.

But come on South Bend.  Take a chill pill. Don’t be punching the 4th ranked quarterback in college football.

Did we lose? Yes.

Am I disappointed?  Yes.

Am I still a fan?  YES!!

I know we lost.  But I still like Charlie Weis and Jimmy Clausen.

I’m for them.  Very dramatic.  Sad loss.  They are competitors.  I like that.  I’m not turning my back on them.

This child has obviously been trained in the way of righteousness.

Every year for the past 13 years my first born son, Isaac, and I get an “opening game” picture together.  After watching the first half – I think it might be a great year!!  Go ND!!!

Dear Lord,

Please let Sunday get here quickly so Obama can give his commencement address at Notre Dame University and be done with it.  And then please let South Bend return to normal without flying airplanes, trucks, protests, news coverage, and Tribune articles.

Oh…P.S. Lord…please give us a winning football season in the Fall!

Notre Dame has invited Barack Obama to speak at their graduation this year.  It has stirred up a firestorm of controversy because of Obama’s policies on abortion.  Even the bishop of the South Bend/Ft. Wayne dioceses will be boycotting.  What do you think?  Should Obama speak…or should the invitation be rescinded?

Anyone watch the USC game?  Holy cow that was ugly.  Notre Dame looks ugly. 

We (and by “we” I mean of course the Notre Dame football team and me sitting on my couch eating chili) have only three offensiveplays.  And my 12 year old son predicts which of the three will be called with about 97.4% accuracy.  If Isaac knows…why would we think opposing defenses would be surprised?!

Are we seriously going to accept a bowl invitation to maybe play a team like Oregon State so that we can move into greater depths of discouragement?!?!  So…rumors are flying about the fate of Charlie Weis. Should he get another year?

I’m totally rooting for the guy…but in regards to hair…did Jimmy lose a bet or something?!  Come on dude…Great clips…$11.99…I’ll even pay for it (if the NCAA rules allow it )
