ADD Side Effects

Tonight, my middle son, Caleb (10 years old) took ADD medication for the very first time. After swallowing the first pill he said, “I’m already feeling the side effects!” And then he started break dancing in the kitchen.

“Actually” Count

I asked my wife, “Do I say ‘actually’ a lot?” She wasn’t sure. She didn’t think so, but neither of us could really say definitively.

I don’t like the word “actually.” Not because I’m against getting the “actual” facts, truth, or story…but because when spoken it is typically corrective in nature.

I was riding in the car with someone (don’t worry…it wasn’t anyone from the Michiana area if you are starting to wonder if it was you ) and they said “actually” a lot! Almost every sentence began with “Actually….“

I would make a comment, and they would say, “Actually, I heard that it was...” It was corrective. Everything I said was being corrected by this obnoxious little word – “actually.” And thus, the person saying it became obnoxious to me.

I don’t want to say “actually.”

Any words you find most irritating?

I love how anything can be said in any manner as long as you finish the comment with, “I’m just saying.”

Take for example, “You emit a foul and unpleasant odor…I’m just saying.” See. No offense. Brilliant.

By 6:00 p.m. I was:

In my pajama pants.
Made a fire in the fireplace.
Watching TV shows I had DVR’d all week.
Loading the dish washer.
And doing laundry.

It is a Friday night and this is a picture of hip and cool! Yep…I’m living on the edge. Wild…I know. In an hour I’m going to go cruise the strip on McKinley Rd. by Town and Country.

Isaac forgot his Wii fit resort game at home.

Kelly thought we might be able to rent one from a local Blockbuster, Movie Gallery, etc.

She looked in the phone book for video stores. She called several. No luck.

As she was going down the list she was about to call a video store called “Pure Pleasure.“

I said, “I really don’t think they carry the videos and games you’re looking for.”
