Your Church is Full of Crap

No seriously (and literally)!!  Yesterday was quite the adventure.  First, it is the post-Easter Sunday.  Post-Easter Sundays are always rough.  I’m not really sure why.  I think it has something to do with the largeness of Easter.  Tons of energy effort, time, planning, and preparation goes into Easter…and then there is the off the chart attendance because it is Easter.  It is big.  Post-Easter Sunday…not so much.  Weird dynamic.  But in addition…

Our church van broke down.  The brake line broke so there were no working brakes.  We think people should love Jesus to the point of martyrdom if necessary, but riding in a 15 passenger church van with no brakes didn’t seem like true martyrdom.  Just seemed crazy.  So…no church van bringing them in.

Then, right before the 11:30 service, Bill Steele comes up to me and says, “We have a problem with the bathrooms.”  I thought no big deal.  We have several bathrooms.  Then he said, “I mean ALL of the bathrooms.”  It seems the main line from the building out to the city sewer was clogged so any release in one place, was causing an overflow in another!  NASTY!!! In the almost 13 years I have been in this church, I can’t remember ever having to make such an announcement.  And what do you say?!  Hey everyone…ALL of our bathrooms are out of order…so hold it (I wonder why everyone was squirming at the closing song).

So what did we do?  We closed all the bathrooms and served more coffee!!!  🙂  Funny how psychologically as soon as the bathrooms are closed you brain tells your bladder it is time to pee!!

So, if anyone walked away yesterday thinking, “That church is full of it!”  Guilty as charged! 🙂
