Southside Watch

Big fire on the corner of Main and Donmoyer.  Vacant building caught fire.  Main Street was still closed and fire crews were still on the scene 8:20 this morning!  You can see the story here.

Armed home invasion/burglary in the 700 block of East Victoria.  Seems suspicious.  I would not guess “random.”  You can see the story here.

I drove down Main around noon today and they had emergency vehicles blocking off all lanes but the left. Hopefully something positive comes from this and thankfully nobody was hurt!

  2. Jim Ruth says:

Many home invasions, if not most, if not all, are not random. I believe they tend to be places where drugs are sold and have fairly large amounts of cash on hand. Not much chance of a police report being filed on that type of activity. Unfortunately memories aren’t very clear either when descriptions are needed. It could all change if Jesus could get a hold of their hearts. Really, it could.

Been in there that whole north side of the Main st one is all cheaply framed wooden offices and such. Very easily torched, surprised its taken this long..

and Jim is right.. home invasions are seldom ‘random’ acts, but usually drug related robberies or settling up on money owned kind of deals.

Remember the mayor says crime is down.. I sure haven’t seen that every year since he was running for re-election.
