Y2K Was Just the Other Day

Posted: December 26, 2009 in Personal Reflections

We are about to begin a new decade!!!  2010 is just a few days off!  10 years ago we were talking about Y2K and all the hype about everything in the world crashing (which it didn’t).  Fortunately, I didn’t waste time stockpiling weapons and food for the cataclysmic event.  But it feels like it was just the other day.  It was actually 10 YEARS AGO!!!  10 YEARS!!  Is time moving faster?

Do you remember what you were doing on December 31, 1999 waiting for the big Y2K?

  1. Barney says:

I do remember being with friends on New Years Eve. We played cards until way past midnight up in Granger. We did take a risk that the computer chip in our car might not start and we would be stranded but fortunately, the car started….I think the only precautions we made was that we took all our money out of the stock market for about a month…..I did have friends form the “Lock and Load” bunch who purchased $2000 generators and hundreds of dollars in dried goods.

  2. Jennae says:

We too were with friends, and I remember questioning the whole thing, and then someone had the bright idea to see if we reprogram the clock on our computer ahead, we could see what terrible thing was going to happen 30 minutes early. So, we did, and of course nothing happened. Until the day we upgraded to a new one, that computer showed the time 30 minutes ahead 🙂

  3. alex says:

Playing a punk show at an indoors skate park in Elkhart. It was freezing inside because there was no heat, but we had a blasty-blast.

  4. Amy O says:

I was at Living Stones Church in what is now the Rock Star Room with a bunch of teenagers hanging out and playing goofy games. Just to mess with the kids, we did turn the lights off as the clock struck midnight. 🙂

  5. Voice in the Wilderness says:

You are saying it didn’t happen?? I need to get out of the bunker more often.
