Resource for Getting into the Bible

Posted: January 4, 2010 in Discipleship

I wanted to HIGHLY recommend what I believe to be the best online resource for reading the Bible.

It is

It was created by  You can initiate your own account and have access to 41 different translations in 22 different languages.  It also has over 20 different reading plans to take you through the Bible.  Along the way, there are resources and biblical study helps, community comments, your own journal, and even dozens of audio Bible versions you can listen to right from your computer!!

In addition, there are apps for Blackberry (I love mine), iPhone, etc. that allows you to use the resources right on your mobile phone!

EVERYONE who is interested in growing spiritually should be reading the Bible.  But not everyone reads to the Bible in the same way:

  • Some people can read straight through – Genesis – Revelation (most get stuck in Leviticus).
  • Others like to read from 3-4 different sections daily.
  • Others like to read as section in the Old Testament & and one in the New Testament.
  • Others like to read chronologically (that is the reading plan I’ve taken up in 2010).

There are lots of options.  And I believe one will be just right for you, and be a huge HELP as you resolve to get into the Bible in 2010.

  1. Jim says:

Are you kidding? I LOVE Leviticus! It’s my favorite book!!!!!1!

  2. The Bishop says:

Love the Blackberry app. Now I have a productive alternative to boring conference calls. Thanks for the tip.

  3. Kneip says:

Not trying to hijack the thread, but we drove by a/the (are they multi-site?) in Tulsa on our way to Abilene…
