Happy Birthday Chuck

Posted: March 25, 2010 in Family

This is my dad.  He is smiling in this picture.  He doesn’t smile.  Today is his birthday.

I love my dad.  And I have a blog (unlike my sister).  Which means in regards to points earned, I win. 🙂

For instructing and modeling the ways of Jesus for me; for your consistent love, presence, and support; and for being the best humanly possible reflection of my Heavenly Father…thank you.

Happy birthday.  I love you.

  1. sister says:

Dad….just because I don’t feel that I need to have a blog (I am way too busy doing really important stuff), you know that I love you and wish you a very happy birthday. Just remember which child was practically perfect (me) and which child you wanted to throw through the wall half the time (ahem…that would be Sam). I love you Dad.

    You better post this Sam!

  2. The Bishop says:

Thank you, my children. I love you both equally. I am reminded of Jesus’ telling of the story of the prodigal son. The elder son had a blog and, therefore, was entitled to a double portion of the father’s estate. But, even with a blog (and all the rights and privileges appertaining thereto) there was still a strange jealousy at the father’s acceptance and love of his prodigal (perfect?) child. History does indeed repeat itself.

On a more serious note, I’m humbled by your comments, Sam. One of the joys of getting older is to be able to see you and your sister modeling the ways of Jesus, not only for your children, but for your mother and me as well. I am truly blessed.

PS I know Isaac and Caleb would be in the corner giggling right now watching me read this.

  3. The Bishop says:

Oh, and by the way, I’m ALWAYS smiling on the inside.

  4. Melissa says:

I love this picture, but I think you should have posted one of his new, longer hair style. It’s a little less, shall we say, “conservative.” In fact, one could almost say he’s being free and “liberal” with his follicles 😉 Happy Birthday, Chuck!

  5. Jim Ruth says:

Excuse me while put on my raincoat to stand in the middle of the tears and the spittle to wish you a happy birthday, Chuck. You must live for many more years because the sibling rivalry (in obvious fun and love) is priceless. You done good brother, you done good.

  6. Memaw Barrington says:

I love you, Son. You’ve sure done your Dad and I proud, a blessing of the highest quality. Happy Birthday!!!
