Crazy Story Slight Praise

Posted: December 2, 2010 in Uncategorized

So my wife gets a call from her sister about an hour ago.  She just asks her to pray because…

Something went flying through her back window (shattering it) through their Suburban (missing five children and herself), through the front windshield (shattering it) and then lodged into the engine immediately setting it on fire.

My sister-in-law, Lori, is on her way to the ER because her hands are burned (as a result of getting all of her kids out of the vehicle).  The Suburban (which they just purchased last month) was engulfed in flames and is a total loss.

What was it?!  A bullet?!!

Turns out:

A vehicle just passed them before the projectile went through the window.  The driver was high and driving with his emergency brake on.  The brake pad (which was aflame) eventually flew off his vehicle and went through their Suburban and into the engine.  He later crashed his vehicle and the police were taking him by ambulance to the hospital.

Pray for my sister-in-law and her burns.  But praise that the burning brake pad didn’t find its way into the back of six people’s heads and thus having a tragically different ending.

  1. Follow up from investigation since I posted: (This is Kelly now). I just got off the phone with my mom. This story gets crazier! The guy was behind my sister on an upward hill, she pulled right into her driveway, he tried to take off up the hill and burned out the clutch. The clutch part under the car shot off into the pavement, ric0cheted up through his car, put a hole in his passenger door, entered my sister’s back window went through the suburban, broke her front windshield, but dropped on the dashboard and immediately set the dashboard on fire. (The engine was the last thing to catch fire). She grabbed all the kids, ran into the house and grabbed a fire extinguisher to try and put out the fire since it was inside the car, but couldn’t get it to work. They waited for the fire department and the Suburban was completely engulfed in flames. Even the back hatch door was completely melted. My sister doesn’t know how she burned her hands. There was plastic burned onto her hands. She went to urgent care and they want her to go to a burn unit tomorrow. All of the children are fine. Thank you for your concern and prayers.

  2. sister says:

Is there going to be charges on this guy or not? I know it was accidental but he was high.

  3. Lori says:

I will be praying for her. Keep us posted.

  4. The Bishop says:

Wow! Praise God she and the kids are alright.
