Almost Mrs. Jonah in a Bikini

The kids and I saw this on the news.  Can you imagine what the woman on the surfboard could have possibly been thinking & feeling!!!

I drafted a letter to be sent out to Living Stoners who don’t show up to church.  The elders shot it down.  pfft.  They are clearly doctrinally weak. 🙂

Sidebar Updates

Posted: November 4, 2011 in Uncategorized

I just noticed my sidebar on this blog.  I haven’t updated it in a long time.  Looks like I’ve been reading the same books for about two years now (which isn’t necessarily impossible for me).  And my sermon message online are WAY old.  I think an update is in order.

This Sunday we begin a new three-week message series entitled Dashboard!

The ‘low fuel’ light comes on in your car, and you know just how far to push it before you give in and stop for gas.  When the ‘check engine’ light comes on, the feeling in the pit of your stomach says you’re about to shell out some dough.  If you own a car, you know how important those little dashboard lights are…and you know ignoring them could be disastrous.  Wouldn’t it be nice if life came with some dashboard lights?  ‘warning: spiritual fuel low.’ ‘caution: check relationship for malfunction.’ ‘alert: thoughts leading to undesired consequences.’  Maybe there is a life dashboard of sorts…a way to run the ‘diagnostics’ and choose to address the problem before it’s too late.  Come join us for a three week series and learn some of the right diagnostic questions to ask in life, and which dashboard lights should not be ignored.  Because recognizing life’s warning signals is a first step toward a healthy life.

See you Sunday at 9:00, 10:30, or 11:55 am!!  AND…bring a friend (or 2 or 12).

An Extra Hour Matters

Posted: November 4, 2011 in Uncategorized

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.  That’s right!!  An extra hour to sleep!!  Meaning, you won’t need to sleep for an hour during church.  This has been your friendly reminder from the Pastor.

This is a good example of why theologically I am very uncomfortable with involvement in “the Kingdoms of this World” (politics) as much as I am interested in it.  I think I’ve decided, at least politically, I’m an extreme libertarian (does that mean I have to vote for Ron Paul *sigh*?).  Anyhow…when I watched this video, I think I threw up in my mouth a little.
